VILLAGE PRINT |
Silicone prints
|
This work was created at a workshop which took place in an abandoned village in Slavonia, Croatia. It deals with the relationship between people and the village, i.e. a village without people, which is full of the remains that people left behind – buildings/houses, things inside them, architectural traits, surroundings, nature, roads... The textures of those things form the details through which the village is represented. Selected buildings, their interiors, their surrounding environment, the road, have been covered with a transparent silicone cement, which has been imprinted with a particular texture after removing, and sometimes with the materials which hint at the nature of the original object that served as a template. At the end, the imprints of various dimensions are placed on light boxes which show the details of the imprint and the traces of the template in the manner of a magnifying glass. The collection of imprints commemorates the people, the village, and everything people made to create the village.
